What to know about Matière Première.
Matière Première was founded in 2019 by Aurélien Guichard, one of the most respected modern perfumers, with a deliberately monomaniacal thesis: each perfume is built around a single hero raw material, sourced from the Guichard family's own farms in Grasse where possible.
Falcon Leather, Neroli Oranger, Santal Austral and Vanilla Powder have made the house a quiet favourite of perfumer-collectors who prize raw-material transparency.
