French perfumer Caroline Dumur developed an early appreciation for scent, influenced by her upbringing in rural Northern France. The natural aromas of her grandparents' farm, combined with her early exposure to classic perfumes worn by significant women in her life, ignited a profound fascination with fragrance. This passion was further nurtured by her parents, who introduced her to the rich history and notable figures within perfumery. Dumur formally pursued her calling, first earning a degree in chemistry with a focus on fragrance and flavours, before advancing her expertise through a master's degree from ISIPCA.

At IFF, Caroline Dumur approaches perfumery as the realisation of an abstract concept, meticulously crafting each fragrance from an instinctual blend of diverse materials. Her work is often characterised by bold material choices and a readiness to explore complex, even enigmatic, combinations. Dumur frequently draws inspiration from the tactile and textural qualities found in art, striving to translate her unique perceptions into olfactory compositions that resonate with depth and feeling. She actively embraces creative challenges, consistently aiming to produce memorable and impactful fragrances.
