Hany Hafez, an Egyptian perfumer, cultivated his early expertise in fragrance in Cairo, where his family's mercantile ventures exposed him to the art of scent composition. This upbringing allowed him to experiment with essential oils, developing bespoke blends that garnered appreciation from his immediate circle. This positive reception inspired him to open his own perfumery in 2002. Concurrently, his work as a tour guide afforded him further opportunities to share his fragrant knowledge, directing visitors to purveyors of fine oils and perfumery ingredients.

03 · Practice

After eight years managing his shop, Hafez relocated to the United States in 2011 to join his family following a brief sojourn in Europe. Observing a disconnect between the cost and longevity of many niche perfumes, he was motivated to leverage his extensive background. After assisting various businesses in launching their fragrance lines, he founded Alexandria Fragrances in 2017. His brand quickly gained recognition for its commitment to high-calibre compositions offered at compelling price points, embodying his enduring dedication to making exceptional perfumery available to a broader audience.
